OUR THEATRE CELEBRATES 10th ANNIVERSARY!!!

And here we are – 10 memorable years are behind us! It is not easy to put into words all the feelings and emotions that burst like fireworks today! So instead, we decided to do something that is not very obvious for artists – some MATH! Let’s look at the numbers…
During these past 10 years OUK Theatre brought to life:
– 40+ PRODUCTIONS for all ages with actors 6-30 years old!
– Over 200 creative events
– Ran over 100 WORKSHOPS in Canada and abroad
– Participated in 18 International FESTIVALS
– Organized 6 International CHILDREN’s THEATRE EXCHANGES
– Taught HUNDREDS of children and performed for THOUSANDS!
– TOURED Ottawa region, Toronto, Washington DC, Atlanta, Orlando, Stratford ON, Lingen (Germany)
– Performed for INCREDIBLE AUDIENCES that saw us on theatre stages of all sorts, forms and sizes, streets, squares and parks of different cities, festivals, National Arts Centre, universities, schools, libraries, daycares, cafes, and tons of experimental spaces!…

WE FEEL that it’s a good start to enter a NEW DECADE that attracts us with new artistic challenges, new friendships, new experiences and new theatrical adventures!

Monday, May 26th at 6:00pm – home studio performance at Woodroffe United Church, 207 Woodroffe Ave, the Banquet Hall.
Followed by celebration and potluck (bring a dish)!

THEATRE DEBATE
Senior Group (ages 10-14) in English
Sat. May 10th at 1:15 and Sun. May 11th at 2:00pm
Critical discussion and debate where students will talk on stage about two shows that they have just seen: The City and Iris & Under the Stars.
Location: Ottawa International Children’s Festival, 100 Watt Earth Stage, the Dining Tent (field of the War Museum)

THE PLANET QUEST
Junior Russian Group #2 (ages 6-10)
Physical theatre performance about travelling among the stars from one fantastic planet to another. Journey that will be enjoyed by any language speaking audience!
Sunday, May 18th at 11:00am.
Location: University of Ottawa Theatre Department, 135 Seraphin-Marion Pvt., studio 311 (3rd floor).
Followed by celebration and potluck (bring a dish)!

BEHIND THE MASK
Junior English Group (ages 8-13)
Physical performance that presents mask work, poems, choreography and elements of stage combat.
Tuesday, May 20th at 7:00pm.
Location: Woodroffe United Church, 207 Woodroffe Ave, the Banquet Hall.
Followed by celebration and potluck (bring a dish)!

A GIRL WITH STAR EYES
adaptation of Finnish fairy-tale by S. Topelius
Senior Group (ages 10-14) in Russian

OUK Theatre opens its 3rd Season 2010-2011!

This season at Once Upon a Kingdom Theatre (more info is coming soon!):

  • Production of two plays for children in English and Russian
    January 8-9, 2011: “Fairy-Tails by the Fire”, Christmas performance for children in Alumni Auditorium, University of Ottawa (in Russian).
    June 2011: “The Little Prince”, performance for children and adults (in English).
  • Productions for youth and adults and participation in Festivals (Fringe Theatre Festival and Youth Infringement);
  • The Ball (for adults);
  • Workshops for amateur and professional actors:
    Acting Workshop: Impulse, Intuition, Transformation on October 26th.
  • New project! KeySIC – Sport, Intellectual, Creative Game. Several teams will be going through series of challenges, creative and extreme tasks in the search of a treasure in the night city (abandoned buildings, hidden places, bridges, unexpected locations and adrenaline rush!). Find the key to the hidden… Quest that will change your vision of the world!
    Interactive theatre + extreme game = Question: Is it a product of imagination or REAL life events that you become part of? You will discover…
